The supporting class are also a credit to this film. Carey Mulligan is charming in the role of Irene and portrays her role as the ordinary, sweet next neighbour with such an ease. But on the other hand the movie isn't specialized on character sketches or telling long rigmaroles, it only shows you what is absolutely necessary. It makes you think about beguilement and the craziness of people and that gets exhibited radically explicit. Drive captivates you ab initio and doesn't even stop after the movie is finished. These moments when he stares into blankness are stunning, just because of the beautiful cinematography and the awesome soundtrack (this is one of the best movie scores of all time, for what it's worth). This guy seems abstracted, somewhat even retarded, but Ryan Gosling plays him condignly human.
